Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Went for a solo Sunday lunch and had a delicious meal, well looked after and lovely atmosphere. Amatriciana with crispy guanciale and a rich tomato sauce, and then a beautiful fillet steak with chicory and potatoes (cooked perfectly, fyi it is thick so ask for it well done if you like it less pink)."
"Pasta Carbonara pretty good but grilled octopus was supposed to be served with vegetables... verduras but only had green lettuce on the plate. Also the Aperol Spritz seemed out of a bottle pre mix and no orange slice...was disappointed and pricy for what was served plain"
"Wonderful meal and dining experience. Popular restaurant with Romans, that is very kind to tourists. We were repeat visitors that will add this restaurant to annual visit list!"
"Just as they say, a good family run Italian place. Not too pricey or touristy. Lots of space. The wife does the cooking and the husband does the front of house."
"Beautiful restaurant, super friendly servers, excellent menu and fresh delicious food! Amazing quality for the price, really well presented, I will go to try the whole menu"
"La Giara was a very nice find on google for our dinner after a long day out. Food is as good as homemade by La Nonna. Our plates were made with fresh and delicious ingredients. Gnocchi and lasagna were amazing and the desserts even better."
"We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Osteria La Giara near Villa Borghese. The ambience combines elegance with traditional charm, and the cuisine complements it perfectly. I tried the carbonara with seasonal black truffle, my first experience with truffles, which was rich, comforting, and well-balanced. My husband chose the fried shrimp and calamari; both were light, crisp, and flavorful. We also shared a homemade tiramisù that was, without doubt, the best I’ve ever tasted. It was so delightful that we plan to return soon."
"Amazing food! Just how I imagined Italian food should be -- homey, comforting, and unpretentious, no gimmicks, just great food made with simple but quality ingredients. We had their pesto and bass. The pasta was so good we thought we'd try their carbonara and it didn't disappoint. I don't normally eat fish, but their bass was fresh and cooked well, didn't have a lot of seasoning (which was a good thing btw as you can really taste the fish). The wine they served us was also good. They served us breads while waiting for our meals. I didn't have much photos cause I started digging in soon as food came in. I wish more people ate here."
